Tough Theatre are currently performing Hippolytus in a new translation at the White Bear Theatre, Kennington (only 2 mins walk from Kennington Tube). The translation itself left me with mixed feelings, but it is a translation – not a ’version’ – and the production is well worth seeing. The theatre is tiny (back room of pub) and it gives a very interesting perspective on the play to see it in such an intimate setting. I think it’s on till the 13 June – catch it if you can, and take pupils who will get a real buzz out of it.
